If you become ill, injured or need advice about your health, you can first contact the medical helpline 1177 by calling 1177 or visiting www.1177.se and selecting Region Norrbotten. Please note that we only offer treatment for emergency dental care. 

You may also contact the reception at your residential area to get help. In case of severe illness or serious injury, always call the emergency number 112 or go to the nearest emergency department, Sunderby sjukhus (hospital).

Call the 1177 medical helpline if you are unsure where to seek health care or dental care. The nurses at the helpline can give you advice on what you can do yourself to feel better. You can choose to speak in Swedish or English.

For medical care or dental care, you can typically get help at a health centre (hälsocentral) or dental clinic (tandvårdsklinik). A health centre is staffed by doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals. A dental clinic is staffed by dentists, dental nurses and dental hygienists. Please note that we only offer treatment for emergency dental care.

Health centres and dental clinics are always open during the day from Monday to Friday, with some offering extended hours. Appointments are usually necessary. Always call 1177 during weekends and holidays for information on opening hours and addresses.

You have to pay for your visit at the health centre, dental clinic or hospital. The cost of a visit to the health centre or dental clinic costs is based on the current price list. The cost of a hospital visit is determined by your diagnosis or care needs.

If you have difficulty speaking or understanding Swedish, you are entitled to an interpreter when you see a doctor, dentist or other caregiver. Tell the staff that you require an interpreter when booking your appointment. The interpreter may be with you on-site, over the telephone, or via video call.
